Kristin Mon March 2, 2009 It has been such an incredible journey for refugee families to finally have a chance to live with dignity in a country
where they can be free. The Manning family has truly dedicated their lives to welcoming the refugees and helping them start
their new lives. They are a great example of how to serve others. Thank you to everyone involved with the Welcome to America
Project!

1, 2009 I have worked in refugee resettlement for over a decade and I know that without dedicated, open-minded people
like Ms. Manning, resettlement work could not take place. I was especially touched my Carolyn Manning's statements that
"It isn't us and them." This is true. The refugees were invited to resettle here and as Ms. Manning's team
has realized, the over-arching goals of resettlement are not charitable in nature (contrary to what many believe). The goals
are to provide safe haven and opportunities for a meaningful life; self-sufficiency, and ultimately, community integration--a
two-way process! Kudos to Ms. Manning for her hard work, and to CNN for once again demonstrating its commitment to keeping
refugee concerns on the radar.
Claudine Sun March 1, 2009 Thank you so much for such a big heart. I too came a s refugee from Africa years ago. I can't imagine how I would
have handled the transition alone. Thankfully America has a lot of angels, like you. God bless your work!
