The first family we will visit is from Bhutan. Living in the apartment is a mother and father, the father’s dad (96), and 2 sons (18 and 20). They are from a remote village in Bhutan. In 1991 they fled due to problems with the government. They went to Nepal and lived there until October 2009, when they arrived in Phoenix. Both sons go to school and the mother has a job. The father takes care of his dad.
The next family we will visit is a young couple and their 2-year-old son. The father was seven when he left Bhutan and the wife was only four months old. They spent the next 20 years in a refugee camp until July of this year when they came to Phoenix. Many family members live in the same apartment complex in Phoenix and they visit with each other often.
