Career Bridge Program
Many refugees arrive in Arizona with a high level of employable skills, education, certifications, and applied knowledge in their respective professions from their home country. Due to Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) requirements for rapid self-sufficiency, newcomers are often placed in minimum-wage employment positions on a first available opportunity. The WTAP Career Bridge program aims to create meaningful refugee impact by connecting qualified working professionals with employers within their expertise.
Designated staff work to assist these individuals with job readiness, resume services, certification processes, and employment placement opportunities in job fields that are closer to their desired career path, and allow for higher wages and self-sufficiency.

Our volunteers are at the heart of our welcome mission, and we would love to work with professional associations and experienced professionals to help candidates get ready for their dream careers. Ways to get involved include:
-
Professionals who work one-on-one with participants to review and revise resumes and LinkedIn profiles. Mentors help clients understand U.S. workplace culture, explore career paths, and conduct mock interviews.
-
Hiring managers and HR professionals who offer informational interviews, help identify bridge roles, and advocate internally for refugee talent.
-
Educators and trainers who support participants through Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) prep, eCornell course completion, and educational tutoring.
-
Human Resources professionals or career coaches who run workshops or one-day clinics focused on resumes, networking, and job search tips.
-
ESL instructors who help with industry-specific language and professional communication skills.
-
Companies who can offer cohort mentoring, mock interview days, sponsoring certifications, job shadowing, or internships.
